Meet Mike ‘Bing’ Crosby
Mike “Bing” Crosby, Commander USN Ret. is the Founder & CEO of Veterans Prostate Cancer Awareness. The nonprofit was formed in 2016 as a result of his own diagnosis and subsequent journey through prostate cancer. Bing is a 3-time survivor of the disease and formed VPCa as a patient advocacy foundation to raise awareness, provide educational resources to patients and support development of new technologies for the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer.
Commander Crosby is a graduate of the US Naval Academy class of 1983 Annapolis, Maryland, with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science. He holds a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and was awarded his wings of gold as a US Naval Aviator in 1984 after a 25 year career with the US Navy Commander Crosby retired and formed a small business conducting security system design and installation for high value assets in challenging locations around the world. The company eventually conducted an IPO and operated as a public company for 5 years and was eventually acquired by a large defense industry company.
Through his career Commander Crosby was awarded multiple awards and citations such as the Joint Forces Commendation Medal for actions during Operation Iraqi Freedom, multiple US Navy Commendation Medals during Desert Strom, and was Commanding Officer of Mobile Operations and Command Center Pacific. He is a graduate of the US Navy Fighter Weapons School “TOPGUN” and the Allied Air Forces Central Europe “Tactical Leadership Program” in Jever, Germany. Mr. Crosby has logged over 3,000 hours in multiple tactical jet aircraft, including, the F-14, F/A-18, B-1B, Mirage 2000, Tornado GR1, Harrier, and the F-16N.
